new year!
I had fun last night. a quick, kind of in order rundown:
mom brought home slurpees and lottery tickets. yes, we live large around my house. i would like to note that we scratched off the tickets with quarters, not pennies. high rollers, yes we are. I didn't win anything.
Julie brought board games over. we played scene it, which was very fun. i came in second! Julie and I also played quiddler, which was not so much fun, although still enjoyable.
Later Dad got out the expensive champagne, and we all tried some. I thought it was disgusting- it tasted so medicinal and it burned my mouth a little bit. Yuck. I'd only tried white wine before that, and i hated that with a passion as well. Clearly, no one has to worry about me becoming alcoholic (yet, anyway). Julie enjoyed the bubbly, however. I think she had 3 glasses- she was kind of giggly by 1:00.
After midnight, which kind of snuck up on me, we made noise. we had sparklers, cheap horn thingies, poppers(the kind in sawdust filled bags), and poppers. Jonny was also rocking on his pots-n-pans drum set. We kept up a racket in the backyard for about 30 minutes. Then , i heard someone knocking on the back gate. I went over and looked over the fence, figuring it was probably a neighbour. well, it was some guy i had never seen before. I said hi and waited for him to say something. He told me he had had a noise complaint. It was right as he said that that i noticed the green epaulet things on his dark blue uniform shoulder. we had a cop! the fuzz! howie came over and dealt with him, and i ran back up to the back door laughing hysterically. I still can't believe a cop showed up. I think that's the first time I've been that near a cop who wasn't doing a demonstration for our class or lecturing on drug safety. It's certainly the first time I've ever been repremanded by one, even indirectly. I've never even been in a car that was pulled over for speeding! Exciting, no?
