ignorance

why doesn't the w3c html validator ignore links? my page (the one you're looking at) validates perfectly in it's conten-free form- i've been very careful. so perhaps you can understand why i'm annoyed. I know it doesn't really matter, but it still annoys the shit out of me. Basically the problem is this: i get bored and validate my page. i get a list of 24 errors, all relating to a single link. What the hell?! I spand all this time attempting trying to make my layout please the powers that be, and one fucking link screws me over. what am i supposed to do? never link to any of the news and shopping pages that seem most susecptible to link cruft, and have a useless validating page, or link to whatever i damn well please and damn the validators? the choice is clear, but it's still maddening. I have no doubt the w3c could figure it out, but why don't they?
