so.. oscars. LOTR won MAJOR. not surprising- i think the best synopsis of their performance was from the lady who won best documentary long form(beginning of her acceptance speech- "first, I'm thankful Lord of the Rings didn't qualify in this category". they won every award the were nominated for- not that they didn;t deserve it, it was a great movie and a wonderful trilogy. I wanted Lost in Translation to win best something- i saw it this weekend and i liked it a lot. not much to say about it that hasn't already been said, except watch it with someone who has spent a lot of time in tokyo(esp. if they are foreign) if you can. I watched it with my parents and their friends who have lived and worked in asia and tokyo for years. the movie was better with someone to explain the flower arrangements, slippers, escort, TV show, etc. so... anyway, i liked it and i'm really glad it won best screenplay- great for sofia coppola, who i think is very talented.
